Our Mission, History and Activities
About us:JSAAM
1 Our mission
We aim to contribute to the welfare of humanity and healthy development of society by collaborating and deepening friendships with scholars in and out of Japan and promoting the research and spread of Asian business and management through academic exchange in science, technology and industry focusing on the field of business administration with the people of Asia.
2 Our History and Vision
The Japan Scholarly Association for Asian Management (JSAAM) was established on 1 October 1993. A year earlier, in September 1992, the first International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM) conference was held at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo, where participants from Japan, China, Russia and South Korea got together and discussed the possibility of establishing a federation of East Asian academic societies in the field of Business Administration. The following year, the International Federation of East Asian Management Associations (IFEAMA) was founded consisting of the above 4 countries and Mongolia. At the same time, a Japanese organization as an alliance of these Associations was established, which was our association, JSAAM.
IFEAMA was established with aims to promote the research and application of business administration in East Asia as well as to contribute to the industrial development and advancement of management practices in East Asia (Statute Article 2), while our goals were as specified above (Bylaws Article 2).
This spirit is still cherished and being passed on to our present members. In the preface of the proceedings of our first conference, Prof. NOGUCHI Tasuku, chairman of the preparatory committee (and the first president of JSAAM) said, “This joint project, the achievements of which are to be fed back to their respective countries and embodied in the advancement of business management and economic development of each country, is a groundbreaking event.” Our activities focus not only on Asian research in Japan but also on executing our operations by collaborating with scholars from various countries.
